Why Amazon compliance matters for your food business
Selling food on Amazon is not the same as selling from your own shop. Amazon requires food sellers to meet its own compliance standards in addition to UK food law, and failure to comply can result in listing suspension, account deactivation, or product destruction at FBA warehouses. You need FSA registration, a documented HACCP system, compliant labelling including full ingredient and allergen declarations under Natasha's Law, and traceability records.
Counter-intuitively, Amazon's own food safety requirements can be stricter than UK law in some areas. For example, Amazon may require best before dates on products where UK law does not, or may demand third-party lab testing that the FSA does not mandate. Sellers who assume that being "FSA compliant" is enough often find their listings removed without warning.
